작가 소개

스콧 칸은 매사추세츠(Massachusetts)주 스프링필드(Springfield) 출생으로 뉴욕을 거점으로 해외에서 활발한 전시 경력을 가진 미국의 화가이다. 칸은 삶에서 영감을 얻었고 그를 바탕으로 한 작품들은 그의 주변 세계에 대한 시각적 일기라고 생각한다. 작품의 주제는 칸이 경험한 사람들과 장소들을 반영한다. 기억과 상상력을 바탕으로 한 그의 작품은 꿈과 같은 초현실적인 특성을 지니고 있다.
칸은 펜실베니아 대학교에서 학사 학위를 받았고 럿거스 대학교에서 MFA를 받았다. 그는 뉴욕 아트스튜던트리그에서 테오도로스 스타모스의 수업에서 1년을 보냈다. 칸은 폴록 크라스너 재단의 상을 받았고, 몬탁에 있는 에드워드 알비 재단의 작가였다. 칸의 작품은 롱뮤지엄과 플로리다의 ICA 마이애미 등 중국의 주요 기업들과 두 개의 박물관에 포함되어 있으며 그의 모교인 펜실베니아 대학에서도 소장하고 있다. 지난 몇 년간 칸은 뉴욕 웨스트체스터에 있는 집에서 작업을 하다가 현재는 브루클린에서 스튜디오를 운영하고 있다.
